I thought there was trouble. I had opened this grapefruit; it peeled nicely; I popped a slice in my mouth, and it assaulted me with the sourest, most acidic flavor I've ever found in a grapefruit. This slice was pure assault.

But the fruit did not keep up the defenses. Every other slice of the grapefruit was a joy, full of citrus flavor while holding a nice balance of sweet and sour. There was plenty of life in this grapefruit.
